The rubber trees tall and straight
kept the land cool and bright
Malaysia was a land of beautiful weather
its wind was light and like a feather
breathing was easy and regular
people were healthy and in cheer.
The oil palm now almost everywhere
makes the land hot and with no care
Malaysia is a land of humid weather
its wind is heavy and unlike a feather
breathing is difficult and irregular
people are ill and not in cheer.
Rubber brought revenue sufficient
tappers and extractors are now insufficient
Oil palm is lucrative and highly poised
harvesting is done contractually by choice
the laid back nation finds an opportunity somehow
as its fertility extends riches anyhow.
