The Little Puppy

It is a dog over there
 feels the pain in a way
 she is in her labour
cries and shrieks
 all in a while
 gives birth to five little ones
 sweet and cute
 they lie down the lane
 for a day  and a half
 while the mother waits over
one of the puppies
 all too smart
 tries to cross the road
 a speeding motor car

 runs over it
all in a second
 the little puppy  is dead
