A Drain Archaic

Down the lane
 saw a drain
 clogged and clotted
water got stagnated
 no flow out possible
 a foul smell emanated
 could not be tolerated
 it is an open drain
 when it rains
it turns worse
 with dirt dense
 time to condemn
high time to redeem
 features new and useful
 nothing so doleful
 a closed drainage
 appropriate to the stage
 should be built
 where dirt could be dealt
 powerfully and flushed
with a force into the thrush,
