A Carnival

A carnival it was
 with shops too many
 all under canopies
 being one of  the makeshifts
 close together, they were
sold all kinds of products
 right from the sweets
 to the sarees and churidars '
all in colours variant
 the savouries being in red
yellow and green all very bright
 and the dresses too gaudy and intricate
be there for ten long days
 braving the heat and rain
 the people around had a good experience
 a way to spend their time
 and the money they had saved
 every year this takes place
 being very productive year after year
 been there for a century and a quarter
an earning to the town council
 known as majlis in Malaysia
 the event is in Teluk Intan
 a laid back town of Perak
 clustered with oil palm plantations
 as always planters are easy going
 never they are in a hurry
 likewise, the carnival  stays long
adjusting to the people's temperament.
